The Virgin Islands Field Archery Federation (VIFAF) has a long history of producing talented athletes, and the recent participation of five archers in the world’s largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournament, the Las Vegas Shoot 2025, is a testament to their dedication and hard work.
- Aviel Georges-Cruz, a 12-year-old newcomer to international and indoor archery, impressed with his 13th place finish despite facing equipment issues throughout the tournament.
- Xavier Buxo, who overcame gear problems on days one and two, made a remarkable comeback to finish 13th in his flight on the final day.
- Ritseeniyah Georges-Buxo, the team’s coach, won 4th place in her flight and took home a cash prize, solidifying the team’s reputation for excellence.
- Ava Ghiorse, who suffered a shoulder injury mid-tournament, demonstrated resilience and perseverance, finishing the competition with a positive mindset and a deeper understanding of pacing and self-care.
- Kasadiyah Baird, who achieved her first year of shooting compound, hit major milestones, including earning her 210 and 215 Club keychains and her Level 4 VI Sharpshooters pin with a score of 251/300.
The Las Vegas Shoot 2025 was a world-class experience that brought together 5,000+ archers from 70+ countries for three intense days of competition. The event featured iconic archery disciplines, including the three-spot, 20-yard “Vegas Round.” However, the tournament was not just about competition; it was also about personal growth and networking. The Virgin Islands Field Archery Federation team attended expert-led seminars, such as:
“Steady Shots: Unlocking Stability and Strength for Archers” and “Secrets to Mental Performance.”
The team’s success can be attributed to their hard work, perseverance, and passion for the sport. As a result, the Virgin Islands Field Archery Federation is eager to inspire and motivate others to get involved in archery.
